Misfit to Maven – With Ebonie Allard

We are extremely pleased this week to virtually introduce our Red Bra Project tribe to the incredible, Ebonie Allard, for our Women Crush Wednesday series. Ebonie is a coach, a misfit turned maven, an author, a podcaster, a priestess, sister and an adventurer of life. She has a remarkable way of connecting to others through her authentic and candid story telling. Her book from Misfit to Maven is part story, part handbook and demonstrates how you can learn to listen and trust yourself implicitly.

When we, at The Red Bra Project, reached out to Ebonie to learn more about her she openly shared with us that she had spent a lot of her life struggling with feeling like she didn’t belong, like she was different and that there wasn’t a place for her.

She stated that this particular way of thinking about herself left her feeling like she was in some way broken and that she didn’t deserve the happiness she saw others receiving. Along her journey however, she has come to realize that she actually is more than deserving of that same happiness she saw in others and that she is pretty interesting and worth knowing! Through her own self-discovery she has been able to learn that her story is inspiring to others and in turn takes time to learn from other’s life experiences.

Ebonie has faced struggles many of us can’t fathom, including being homeless at one point in her life and living in a boiler room. Her vulnerability, in being able to share that fact with her audience, supports us being able to clearly see that nothing is impossible or out of our reach. Ebonie shared with us that she pushes through fear by remembering that it’s just an emotion and it usually shows up just before things are going to get really juicy, interesting and exciting! She places a strong emphasis on friendship in her life and takes the time, invests the effort, to really allow someone to get to know her and for her to get to know that person as well.

She embodies The Red Bra Project mission fully by empowering other women to to listen to their own internal wisdom and guidance. She encourages us, as women, to create common spaces where all voices are heard, not just those that shout the loudest.

We are inspired that she busts out her “red bra” or superhero cape every day by role modeling that it is okay for us all to be superheroes! All day, every day!
